IFPCA Mission Statement

The mission of the Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Association is to actively encourage the development of fire and police commisioner leaders and to promote a high level of training and ethical standards of excellence in commission leadership and innovation; educate and train the fire and police commission members regarding the practice of hiring, promotion and discipline; and recognize the achievements of the individual members of the fire and police commissions.

Dear IFPCA Members,

I hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer vacations and are getting ready to attend the IFPCA Fall Seminar on Nov 7th, 8th and 9th in Naperville.

Attendance at the upcoming Seminar is very important as there are several new legislative changes that have taken place or will take place very soon. John Broiher, the IFPCA Attorney, will be discussing these changes in detail. We will also have a guest speaker that will address these issues as well.

The association is in need of volunteers for the Executive Committee. We are looking for members that are self-starters and team players to help out with seminar training and various committees. We usually have between 4 and 5 meetings a year with two of them at the Seminars. If you are interested in becoming a part of one of the most influential Commissions in the state of Illinois, please do not hesitate to contact the IFPCA office at (630) 571-1080 or talk to me at the seminar.

I would also like to stress that a municipality with a population over 5000 residents is compelled by Illinois State Statute to create a Fire and Police Commission Board. We really need to reach out to our neighboring communities and towns and find out if they are members of the IFPCA. If they are not members, give them our information or get theirs and send it to the IFPCA office. We need to let them know about the IFPCA and how our organization can help them or prepare them for any issues that may arise on their commissions, as well as the benefit of having access to the Association attorney, Johh Broiher.

I enjoy serving you as President and look forward to seeing you in Naperville. Please do not hesitate to say hello and I will do the same.

Thank You,

Tom Kucharski,

President Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Association.
